Drawings of the Falls of Feugh

I am often asked how I produce work. The following quick drawings illustrates the early stages of how I approach subjects I want to explore later in my studio.

I usually start by walking a landscape and allowing the shapes and sounds to become familiar. Then I spend a lot of time looking and drawing. When I’m confident I have internalised the ‘feel’ of a place in my drawings I take the work back to my studio and play with materials and image while making larger work.

The following images are from time spent by the Falls of Feugh near Forfar, Scotland.
